How to design a logo (beginner’s guide)

You do not need to be a designer to make a clean logo. Here is the process.

1. Define the brand. Note the name, the feeling you want, and where the logo will be used.
2. Gather inspiration. Collect logos you like to spot patterns in style and colour.
3. Pick one or two fonts and colours. Restraint reads as professional.
4. Sketch simple concepts. Aim for something that works in one colour and at small sizes.
5. Build it in a design tool. Recreate your best idea cleanly (Canva or a vector tool).
6. Test and export. Check it tiny and large, then export in several formats (PNG, SVG).
